Unabridged Audiobook
This book should be read by all Americans who did not serve in the military. It is a compelling narrative of the experience of the generation who voluntarily went to war to defend the United States after 911. For those of us who did not serve, it provides important perspective on the experience of an American soldier and returning veteran that we all desperately need in order to be able to begin to heal the existing disconnect between civilians and the large population of active military and veterans in our American society. This book should be read by all Americans who serve or who have served in the military. It expresses compassionate solidarity with American soldiers and veterans in its relation of Jake Wood's wartime and post-wartime experiences, as well as an offer of hope and inspiration for the future. This book will of course be read by many inspired Team Rubicon volunteers like myself who are interested in knowing how this seemingly unstoppable and multi-talented author launched one of the most effective disaster relief organizations in the country. The extremely competent narration by the author brings the characters to life directly from his personal memories and experiences, straight from the depths of his own heart. The story is well paced and well written. In my opinion we can add writer and narrator to Jake Wood's considerable talents.
