Thoroughly enjoyed both the book and the narrator. My second favorite the So far of about 20 Audiobooks only being beat by undaunted courage.
Not sure what to title this. I listened recently to another Jackson biography so there was a lot of duplication. I did listen throughout, but it was a little heavy on the military strategy etc for my taste. There was information that wasn't duplication so I'm not sorry I listened to it. I might have given it 4 stars if I hadn't listened to the other biography.
Very good telling of the Battle for New Orleans in the War of 1812. Groom does an excellent job of setting the table for the battle and describing all of the events including the earlier skirmishes and the battle on the west bank. Superficial information only is given to Lafitte and his Barartarians, probably since they still remain "shadowy" figures even to this day. It is still a great book, with wonderful narration, and the reader comes away with a good knowledge of the battle. Can't wait for Groom's Shiloh book! He is proving to be a great historian and not just a "Forrest Gump" novelist!!
This was a very enjoyable book to listen to. I really liked it.
A very good listen. The narration was excellent and I sat through four days of traffic in a totally different world. Well, perhaps not, I was on Los Angeles freeways and they are know for their share of blood. I recommend this not only for the history but the presentation.
