Summary
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Funny Story comes a sparkling novel that will leave you with the warm, hazy afterglow usually reserved for the best vacations.

Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love.

Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she’s in New York City, and he’s in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.

Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven't spoken since.

Poppy has everything she should want, but she’s stuck in a rut. When someone asks when she was last truly happy, she knows, without a doubt, it was on that ill-fated, final trip with Alex. And so, she decides to convince her best friend to take one more vacation together—lay everything on the table, make it all right. Miraculously, he agrees.

Now she has a week to fix everything. If only she can get around the one big truth that has always stood quietly in the middle of their seemingly perfect relationship. What could possibly go wrong?

I regret this choice. Such a one-dimensional, lackluster rom com that I neither laughed at nor found romantic. Would not recommend.

I would have loved this book if I were a 12 year old girl. So predictable. So boring. So uneventful. I kept hoping something interesting would happen but it didn't. I have started a list of authors never to read again. Emily Henry is the first entry on my list.

Loved it! Quick read. I recommended it to a friend and she loved it too! Hallmark vibes with a little spice.

I really enjoyed in the beginning but thought it drug on way too long.

Great great story and as always, amazing narration. Sad that I finished!

I enjoyed this book and the overall story of Poppy and Alex. The middle got a little slow and boring for me. I thought the narrator did a good job!

Beautiful book, love it from the beginning

My first Emily Henry book and it hooked me. Poppy is my favorite lead character in all of the Emily Henry books!

Profile Avatar Laura H. Aug 2023

Not my favorite Emily Henry book, but entertaining enough.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Mar 2023

Predictable but cute because elements of it were relatable. The story moved along and never really dragged and came together nicely in the end. Good, casual, listen

I have really enjoyed reading Emily Henry and this is my favorite so far. I laughed, I cried, I cheered, and I booed. These were likable characters with ordinary character flaws and it was fun following their journey.

Don’t waste your time. The characters barely developed.

Loved it!

This book was so disappointing. So predictable, and the heroine was whining and unlikable the entire time. I’d like my purchase credit (and time) back, please.

Her stomach is in her heart. Her stomach is a heavy wall. Her stomach is a flutter. Just what is it with this woman’s stomach? I was bored on their vacation so skipped to the last chapter. No surprise there.

Loved this book. I laughed, cried and swooned so many times.

Profile Avatar Jessa B. May 2022

Really loved and enjoyed this book.

Profile Avatar Julia L. May 2022

Not great but I don’t regret it! Cute, cheesy, and a good escape when the world is on fire.

Profile Avatar Bookish S. May 2022

Really loved this one!

Profile Avatar Alyssa Hicks May 2022

I cringed too much through this

Profile Avatar Heather D. May 2022

It took a minute to adjust to the narration. She also narrated The Invisible Life of Addie Larue. Once I was able to move past it, I enjoyed the book. Turned out exactly as I predicted but sometimes you need a beautiful bow at the end.

Profile Avatar Roxie Y. Apr 2022

Great book, I loved it. Quality Narration.

Profile Avatar Amber T. Mar 2022

This book really exceeded my expectations. I guess I expected a typical rom com story, but was pleasantly surprised by how multifaceted the story actually became.

Profile Avatar Alexia B. Mar 2022

Wish it were longer! Amazing book start to finish.

Profile Avatar Anjelica R. Mar 2022

I’m a fan of Emily Henry! This is my second book of hers and I just loooove her romances. I love how she writes the men characters, the women characters are cool too but she really makes me fall in love with these men and I think men are trash! Can’t wait to read her other books.

Profile Avatar MLara Feb 2022

I loved this book!

Profile Avatar Khadija A. Oct 2021

the book is an amazing read

Profile Avatar Joanne K. Sep 2021

A really great book we all have flaws and doubts and this book really personalizes those doubts about ourselves and the ones we love.

Profile Avatar Sharon W. Sep 2021

Wonderful romance.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Sep 2021

Predictable and over dramatic

Profile Avatar Bianca1976 Sep 2021

I’ll give it a 3.5 because it was cute in the end but it was a bit frustrating too.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Sep 2021

I truly enjoyed this book, although it also felt like most rom coms. It doesn’t change the fact that I would read it again for the first time if I could.

Profile Avatar Kristin W. Sep 2021

I love this book! Gets better with every additional time I listen to it as the characters have so many layers. Narrator is gifted - brings the words to life.

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jun 2021

Great summer read!

Profile Avatar Courtney Curtis Jun 2021

Predictable but sweet

Profile Avatar Anonymous Jun 2021

I contemplated abandoning this book many times because it was basically about nothing. It didn’t get interesting until the last 90 minutes.

Profile Avatar Anonymous May 2021

Very good book - lighthearted and romantic - great narration

Profile Avatar Anonymous May 2021

A definite beach read. Romance abounds.
