Unabridged Audiobook
Librivox recordings can be annoying when they announce it every chapter, but this narrator has a lightness in her tone and the story is very enjoyable to listen to.
An amazing classic-LOVE this story. I don't think I would have even enjoyed it as much had I read it on my own-the narrator was amazing!
The narrator for this was absolutely amazing. I’ve purposely looked for other books shes narrated and was not disappointed!
I agree that Elizabeth Klett is an excellent reader. My only issue with the narration is that she changes from American English for third-person narration to British English for spoken character parts. It works, because her British English is very good, and her character differentiations through voicing are first rate. Apart from a few mispronunciations, it's all very successful. There's really nothing to add about the novel. It continues to be read because it's such an enjoyable work and Jane Austen's treatment of shades of gray make the dichotomy of the novel's title very ironic. Her first title--First Impressions--was much better.
Great story... Great narrator.. I can't believe it's already over....
good book great narrator
Love the book. She did a great job at narrating, however, it was odd that at the beginning/end of every chapter more info was said than just what chapter was next.
Elizabeth use a wonderful variety of expression and tones to bring life to the characters while adding the right amount of emotion to make it sound interesting.
The chapter titles get a bit annoying, but the narrator is great. I think some of the affectations are a bit overdone, but it helps distinguish characters during long bits of dialogue.
This novel is simply world-renowned, it has exploded the expectations and fuelled inspirations for all modern romances. I have very much enjoyed this novel, how brilliant it was to be able to once again deeply immerse myself in this brutal society of romance, or perhaps lack of it would be more fitting. The narration perfectly executed the authorship, and extended the almost ‘homey’ feeling that erupts from reading an absolute classic. I recommend this novel to everyone with all my heart, to read or to listen, it’s a joy!
Wonderful narrator....not too fast...not too slow. I love to hear her!. Still the best Jane Austin story.
Very pleasant sounding narrator. Wonderful, suspenseful love story. Very interesting reflections on social class and human nature.
Book is excellent. Narrator is also great: however, around the 35th chapter the recording is scratchy, similar to an old vinyl record. Also, announcing all of the book information (title, author, narrator, etc.) is redundant and unnecessary.
The narrator was great, although at times a little too fast.
Loved this audio book! It took me back to Jane Austen 's world. It was nice to listen a work.
I love this book! The reader was splendid and the emotions in her voice let to bringing feelings alive. Jane Austin is such a wonder novelist. I can't wait to read another of her books. Persuasion is my next endeavor.
This is the first audio book I have listen and I love it. The reader's voice is amazing.
Not bad...not bad
Loved it immensely
Loved this book and narrator!! I laughed so much at their definition of other’s behaviors. Very entertaining! It helps if you are interested in history
Fantastic narration
Amazing! And amazing narration!!
Good book well written , may be in love with the narrator, near perfect in my mind
Well read
The book is entertaining and gives a real good insight in the lifestyle of the people in the early 19th century England. I liked especially the style in which the characters were conversing, so classy and stylish. As of the narration, it is perfect! Elizabeth Klett is a professional, it is an absolute delight to listen to her. An easily understandable accent even for those who are not native english speakers.
Pride and Prejudice is an essential english novel - it is a pity that the narrator does not have a pure english accent.
Fantastic story! A great insight to human behavior based on feelings and preconceived opinions.
Well read and my first and favorite novel. Clearly and beautiful flow and intonation! Enjoy it so much!
I have enjoyed this book so much. I know I had to read it in High School. Maybe, because it was mandatory, or maybe because I couldn't read to myself with the enthusiasm and expressions of the reader,Elizabeth, Klett, I didn't appreciate this classic at all. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to listen on Audio Books. Thank you.
This is a delightful rendition of a classic tale. It is well read and free ;)
I loved the book, it was so very refreshing to read such a style of writing after having read so many of the modern romance novels. One of the best classics I shall say.
Excellent voice acting by Elizabeth Klett. I've listened to this many times over.
It’s really good despite not being my normal genre.
I love this book, and the narrator is great. You should read/listen to this book before watching the movie!
what a wonderful writer I need to watch the movie and see what I think I read
I enjoyed listening to the inflection in the reader’s voice. A beautiful representation that permeated my mind with a crystalline visualization of the story as it unfolded.
I have listened to this book for the past 4 years and never get tired of hearing it being red by the narrator. I always look for the books read by this narrator.
Splendidly entertaining.
Well read and well written.
The narrator is amazing. I am a big fan of the book, and this just made me love it even more
Excellent in every regard!
I liked that the narration was in American English but switched to British accent for the dialogue. That was accurate.
Very beautiful work
one of my favorites of all the time i read it before but hearing it woth the narator's good voice made it even better
Mannered but flows well
wonderful narrator, making this story even more enjoyable.
this is a tape converted recording. so you have to hear about that between each chapter. irritating to say the least.
I have enjoyed listening to it several times!
What a pleasure to hear the language the author uses! Great Read!
Enjoyed listening. Narrator did a lovely job.
I watched pride and prejudice the movie multiple times, I read the book , listened to it and still it's never enough, I wanna live in this story .
Masterful storytelling and superb narration. The story presents enough intrigue early on to keep you holding out for answers. Perfect balance of characters, storylines and subtly to make paying attention worthwhile. Even though some sections unfold slowly, Austen wastes little to no dialogue or description on what doesn’t add context.
What a timeless, moving story! I so appreciated the way Elizabeth Klett brought the people to life. Exceptional in every regard.
It was a very nice book but Elizabeth klett is the best narrator, she makes every book interesting.
Elizabeth Klett does an amazing job reading this story! She IS Elizabeth Bennet! This classic tale is one that should always be treasured!
One of the best books ever and one of the best narrators as well. Maybe my third time listening to it.
Elizabeth Klett is one of my favorite readers. She’s amazing. Give her a good book like this and you’ve got a great listen
One of my favorite novels nicely narrated
The narration brought the story to life. What a beautiful book!
Not my style
For a free book it's a wonderful classic and worth the time
The reader has good character voices but the American accent when narrating constantly pulled me out of the story. Tell the story In UK English!
excellent
nice narrator but the story itself isn't very gripping.
excellent narrator
A delicious binge. Such a timeless story perfectly narrated!
I love this book, it brings new pleasure each every time I hear the words.
Amazing narrator.
I was bored.
One of my all time favorites. I enjoyed this reader.
Quintessentially English. a North American accent from the Narrator has to be readjusted each chapter. What a wonderful book again & again. What delicious characterisation.
I’ve read most of Jane Austin’s books. but I believe this is one of my favorites.1
Disappointed. I guess I expected too much since I'd seen it for most of my life and never read it.
well read, easy to follow
Just a great experience!
good book for relaxing
Jane Austen at the top of her game. The voice actor was superb!
narrator is awesome
Love the story! Excellent recording!
Best narrator for this book ever.
I just wish the introduction of each chapter was not so long. It is boringly long.
Brilliant narration and always a great read.
I love this simple love story! Everyone should read it!
I liked the narrator very much. You can really hear the different voices of each character. Although it is read in a fast pace, I could understand it very well, and english is not my first language.
This was a great read or listen too! I suggest it to you.
It’s good.
Wonderful recording, the narrator masterfully brought the characters to life while leaving a lot to my own imagination. I especially liked her time when reading Elisabeth.
This is my favorite. I love the readers voice.
An excellent time document of 19th century British aristocrat life. It is a potty therefore, that the narrator speaks at a very quick American pace. Slowing the pace down does help a little, but not upto the original feel of the context of the book. This only goes for the narrator parts. Dialogues are done splendidly.
I started reading this book and was hooked but sometimes life is too busy just sit down, just me and a book, so I decided to try the audiobook. I read to relax but this narrator is so quick that I felt anxious. Clearly intellectual but slow down please. I need a breath even if this narrator doesn’t.
Klett’s performance is spot on. So grateful!
I love the story it was as if I was watching a movie I have never read or listen to a book right through to the end. it was very exciting and interesting, inspiring me to read more books looking forward to do so.
Great narration....sometimes a little too fast but overall exellent.
Great story
Favorite book! Loved the narrator
I thought it was a beautifully written book and it was very engaging.
One of my favourite novels. I was absolutely impressed by the narrators’ accents and stunning accuracy and delivery! I’m an English woman and, had I not known she wasn’t English from the opening narration, I would have guessed she’s from Shropshire! Great job!
My favourite all time book. Read more times than I can remember and enjoyed listening for a change
incredibly entertaining and wonderful book. narrator was excellent, despite the interruptions between every chapter
I still don't get why people like this book but I liked the narrator
Tried it. Can say I’ve listened/read it but it is ever so boring, I’m not much a fan of the classics I guess.
I appreciate how the narrator brought the characters to life in the dialogues. Using American English for the narrative and British English for the dialogue was an unexpected choice that grew on me as the novel progressed. I liked the narrator's style so much that I will now go look for more recordings by her. Oh, the novel is good too.
such a classic love story. they dont make books like this anymore
A true classic read beautifully by Elizabeth Klett. It sends you back to a bygone age when things were so gentile and the females so exquisitely manipulative. Great read.
This book was really a page turner. Beautifully worded. Even the narrator was so good.
Have never got round to reading this book myself, so enjoyed the narration very much.
I love the book, I have been reading it since i was 14... many years ago.. I would have preferred an English voice and the chapter and other announcements between chapters were very irritating. It stopped the narrative and reduced the pleasure of listening. Who reads a book and doesn't simply go from chapter to chapter?
It is absolutely my favorite book and the narrator was wonderful, even with British accent it was understandable. I enjoyed the story very much. Thank you,
I really enjoyed it and the narrator was great!
loved the voices the narrator did for each character.
Excellent narrator! And the book is very good.
Excellent!! Great story and the narrator was amazing, she did each part perfectly!
Love this - great story!
Love it and can’t wait to hear it again.
Transport you to a beautiful time.
It was a great book and said so more then any movie
I couldn't stop listening until it was finsihed
P&P is my favorite book. The narrator did an awesome job!
I love Pride and Pejudice. I love the movie and know I love listing to the book.
Always a beautiful classic! Well narrated.
Great narration, one of my absolute favorite books
Hola! Me encantó y divirtió esta novela, la narradora es excelente, es una excelente opción para practicar el inglés.
Brilliant narrator!
Elizabeth Klett is one of my favourite readers and as usual she read this very well
Been reading the book and listening to this audiobook for the nth time, still, the story leaves me breathless. Deadly awesome.???? Elizabeth Klett was one of my fave narrator, lovin the way she delivers every words. Hands down.
Elizabeth klett is just the best reader ever! I loved her lecture and enjoyed every peace of it! She is just fenomenal.
The narrator is excellent and this book is a classic for a reason. Yes, the narration tends to seem a bit rushed but the book is a long one. Her characterization of the haughty mother, Mrs. Bennet is top notch. Elizabeth Klett's reading of Jane Eyre is one of her best and I highly recommend that book next if you enjoy this genre). I appreciate the free books on this site, they fill in nicely when waiting for next month's credit.
Very enjoyable book. Have actually listened to it twice already. Think this will end up being a go to book for me
She does a wonderful job delivering my favorite Jane Austen story!
It’s a classic. I think everyone knows this story but to listen to each page is magic.
Wow narrator did a great job! Very interesting, romantic and simply amazing book. Enjoyed every minute of it
This is absolutely my favorite classic novel. Elizabeth Klett does an amazing job with reading. One of the best readers LibriVox has!
story was great, the narrator was too fast in places though and the repetition of novel name and author at start of every chapter was annoying.
The novel was a bit tedious at times yet very fitting at the same time. The reader was so good that I actually searched for more novels read by her! She is incredible.
Amazing book! One of my favorites and is a must read.
One of my favorite books. The narrator was excellent.
Enjoyed the book, but found it hard to understand some time.
What a great timeless story. Loved the narrator too
Loved the book, had to watch the movie after. Now I'm listening to classics on my commute to and from work.
Even better than the movie and miniseries. Excellent narration!
I have decided to go back and listen to the classics on my daily commutes and what a pleasure it has been to escape to Pemberley and Netherfield while battling Houston traffic.
Pride and Prejudice is one of my all time favorites and to be able to listen on my phone while at work is incredible! Elizabeth did a fantastic job narrating!
Absolutely loved this book and the narrator. I had never read it before and fell in love with the words.
I'd not personally encountered any work by Jane Austen previously, and thought the initial, though short, chapters to be somewhat tedious. I soon realized however, that the characters had just been created to actuality, within my awareness, to an exquisite detail, and in a manner which allowed me to make gentle acquaintance with them, instead of the characters' persona being, described. For the remainder, I was quite captivated, throughout, and upon completion of the work, felt both pangs of loss and satiety.
One of my favourite books! Narrator has a really soft voice thus expressing female figures much better than males'.
A wonderful love story that made me fall in love with the English world. Elizabeth Klett did the English accents very well.
I have never read any of J. A.'s Books. This was the first one
