Unabridged Audiobook
I actually put off listening/reading this book for 3 years because I felt that U-God was spoiled, light-skinned, and entitled..but after reading Raekwon's Book, i decided that THIS book should be given a fair chance..and other than the narration of the book (which left a LOT to be desired), I kinda enjoyed U-God's journey..from Brownsville BK to Park Hill houses in Staten Island..you saw some really detailed events through the eyes of an NYC Ghetto child..you ALSO see SOME light-skinned privilege in the book..and (keeping it a buck) a NEED to be a TOUGH GUY..I don't believe U-God as far as being this FALL GUY..(it USUALLY means that you're hiding something)..though (IN MY OPINION) U-God had NOT been 100% honest in his book..(I'd say 75% honest)..LOL..I liked the book..AND TO MY SURPRISE!!?? NO RZA BASHING IN THIS BOOK WHATSOEVER!!..NONE!!..and it shocked me because everywhere in Social Media..U-God has something bad to say about The Rza..so in summary..SOLID BOOK..I wish that U-God got a professional to narrate it..but it's worth a ONE OVER READ..thank you..
If you are an Old Head, U-God’s depiction of growing up in the 70s & 80s will resonate. As a new student of Hip Hop, I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the Ways of the Wu. I was especially interested in learning about the Wu’s creative process and this book does not disappoint.
Exceeded my expectations!! This was a classic. Don’t sleep on this. Purchase it ASAP!
Great book , gives in depth look into one of Wu Tangs members
