Unfortunately, the captivating portion of the book doesn’t start until chapter 18/27 which is around the 8-9 hour mark. The tone setting portion of the story (ch 1-17) is beautifully written, sure. But it was something I convinced myself to power through because other reviews led me to believe this was an awesome book. Once things start heating up, it’s a slow burn and an enjoyable one. I’m not sure if I would recommend this to anyone. While I’m glad I pushed through it and enjoyed the climax and “resolution” phases, it was too slow and overly detailed for me.

Absolutely beautiful writing and great narration to bring it to life. One of my new favorites!

A classic and absolutely brilliant book. One of the best mystery-love stories of all time. The author keeps you guessing until the end. This is one love story that should be read by all fans of the genre.

Overall great, just wish the narrator had morw variety in her voices.
