Summary
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Year One and Of Blood and Bone concludes her stunning new trilogy praised as “A match for end-of-the-world classics like Stephen King’s The Stand.”

After the sickness known as the Doom destroyed civilization, magick has become commonplace, and Fallon Swift has spent her young years learning its ways. Fallon cannot live in peace until she frees those who have been preyed upon by the government or the fanatical Purity Warriors, endlessly hunted or locked up in laboratories, brutalized for years on end. She is determined to save even those who have been complicit with this evil out of fear or weakness―if, indeed, they can be saved.

Strengthened by the bond she shares with her fellow warrior, Duncan, Fallon has already succeeded in rescuing countless shifters and elves and ordinary humans. Now she must help them heal―and rediscover the light and faith within themselves. For although from the time of her birth, she has been The One, she is still only one. And as she faces down an old nemesis, sets her sights on the enemy’s stronghold, and pursues her destiny―to finally restore the mystical shield that once protected them all―she will need an army behind her…

Great modern fantasy series with one issue: There is no real sense at anytime of risk or the possibility of defeat. Unlike the grit of the first book, the finale felt like a Disney series, where the audience is kept safe and comfortable from the bad feelings. For me to feel emotion I need to feel like they really lost something personal to achieve victory, and it never happened. \r\n\r\nPOSITIVE NOTE: The narrator is one of the best I\'ve heard for conveying emotions. Really skilled at subtleties like voices cracking and small sobs.

I enjoyed the first two books, but I think this one just fell short. It was too predictable and the ending left me sad because it was so easy. But overall a fun trilogy to read.

I truly ENJOYED this series especially in this time of Covid. Who doesn't want to believe in a little magic? But how the doom started...coming to the states...on a plane from another country? Food for thought. But please...start from the first book of the series....

Loved it! Perfect ending for a thoughtful, imaginative and, at times, heartbreaking trilogy.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! Sad to end the series, yet what an ending. The narrator does an amazing job with all the voices, emotions, and actions. It was one of the best series she has completed.

The series was good but I was glad when it was over. There was really only one shocking scene in the last book and everything else was predictable. But overall, it was a good story.

I really enjoyed this whole series but this one in particular and the narration was really good. I am probably never going to give 5 stars for narration but this one is definitely up there.
