The best! This book has everything you need to fear the dark. One of my favorite Stephen King books.. As I listened I could picture my own town slowly but surely being overtaken by vampires. That is the magic of this book, it almost seems plausible It makes me wonder what kind of man Mark Petri becomes and do he and Ben ever have peace in their life again?

I finally read this novel! It’s been on my list forever. I’m glad I read it. I enjoyed a different take on a vampire story. Will I read it again? No. The narrator was great!

Thrilling, terrifying and captivating. One of the best. Listen in candlelight and give yourself over to the imaginative writing of Dr King and the vivid narration of my man Ron ????????

Interesting book. King's descriptive writing is fantastic.

Oldie but goodie!!! I had not read this one in a LONG time. As usual, Stephen King did not fail to bring his A Game. Love You Mr. King!!!!

This is one of the most iconic epic SK novels to date in my opinion. It gives the reader/listener every thing they need to love the story!! Greatest vampire novel hands down. Truly terrifying and will make you not want to read at night!

The book starts off slow and the narrator doesn't find his stride until later into the story. After that, it's really hard to stop listening.

Profile Avatar Maxx Sawyer Jun 2016

Excellent novel, the narration was smooth throughout and the plot was plenty interesting to grab your attention throughout.

Profile Avatar Wayne Henderson Mar 2016

Stephen King has come a long way since he wrote this book.

Profile Avatar jaime baker Dec 2015

Greatest vampire novel of all time, narrator makes the world of Jerusalem's lot come alive and impossible not to pay attention to. A masterpiece of horror.

Profile Avatar Jennifer Wong Jun 2014

I enjoyed this narration. The book was slow at the beginning but picks up.

Profile Avatar Mike morgan Jan 2014

This is a disappointing narration - I love all of Stephen Kings work but this I cannot finish. Not Good!

The first King book I made it through( I think I was 13). I still love it.

Profile Avatar PokeSmot Aug 2023

Cool story, I like how the narrator uses his voice for some of the characters. Wasn’t quite as scary as I’d hoped

Profile Avatar Glenn S. Aug 2023

King is a beast! His way of describing things makes me feel like I’m actually there. The narrator is FANTASTIC. He not only nails the male voices but captures the female voices perfectly. That’s rare in my experience. He made the book so much scarier

I read this book when it first came out. Found the audiobook well done and one of the best narrators yet.

Profile Avatar Christina A. Aug 2022

Classic King novel and narrator did a great job.

Profile Avatar Kristoffer N. Jun 2022

King's coming out party, allright!

Profile Avatar Angelah May 2022

Great story. Told very well. Narrator’s voice was soothing and he did the characters well

Profile Avatar shayne fergus Feb 2022

One of his best. It's a slow burn start but it sets up the rest of the book so we'll. King truly is the master.

Profile Avatar Michelle Conley Jan 2022

Fantastic book! My favorite Stephen King so far. I honestly think this one is far better than the other popular ones of his. The narration was perfect.

Profile Avatar John T. Dec 2021

This was the absolute worst narrator for a Stephen King novel. It was like a 17 hour 90’s action movie trailer.

Profile Avatar Isak A. Jul 2021

Fantastic book. I've seen both filmadaptations but never read the original story. King is the master of slow build-ups and this combined with the setting of the story in a small town a lot of us can relate to makes it just that more frightening. When it comes to audiobooks of course a lot hangs on the narrators shoulders, Ron McLarty does an excellent job of breathing just the right life into it. Thanks you for this great experience.

The narrator sounds like a computer generated voice.

Great story. Creepy and entertaining the whole way through.

Profile Avatar Anita L. Oct 2020

This book is epic! The best vampire story ever! And it it so well narrated! Loved every minute of it!

Profile Avatar Jacob H. Aug 2020

One of the best vampire fictions I've ever read. The narrator is fantastic.

Profile Avatar Stacy S. Jun 2020

One of my favorites!

Profile Avatar chris_ryann Apr 2020

One of my favorites by him, love the impending horror and slow feelings of dread and fear. One of king’s best works!! Must read.

Profile Avatar Ejay1345 Mar 2020

The story is great. The audiobook is not. There are no chapter or track listings. It’s just one long file, so if you are going back and forth between the audio and printed books then it’s very difficult to find your spot. I like to listen in the car and read at home and you couldn’t do that with this audiobook. The narrator (from what little I listened) was good.

Profile Avatar Jose victor G. Jan 2020

loved this book ... almost more than the shinning ... !!!! I fund myself talking to my speakers like the people that talk to the screen at the movies !!! haha ...I truly felt myself inside the story ... really immersive narration ...

Profile Avatar Marcus Johnson Dec 2019

My favorite King book so far!!!! The story is creepy, captivating, and doesn't lose sight of reality when it begins to explore its more supernatural elements. Made me feel like this could have really happened in some small town off the beaten trail. The detail that King goes into throughout the entire story made the book very easy to imagine and kept me interested from start to finish. Great book!

Profile Avatar HOPE S. Sep 2019

Sound quality is a bit off and the lack of tracks is slightly annoying but over all and enjoyable experience

Profile Avatar Jeremy S. May 2019

If you were looking for a boring blah story that'll never pull you in this is the book for you. I have quite a collection of Stephen King audiobooks but I must say this one is not his best work.

Profile Avatar Craig S. Oct 2018

Awesome book! One of my favorite Stephen king novels. ive listened to this on cassette many times before. The narrator did an excellent job! Love it!

Profile Avatar Jyl C. Jul 2018

I absolutely love this story. It's one of my favorite Stephen King books, however, I wasn't super impressed by the narrator. Some parts he did very well, others not so much. The other audio books I've listened to were narrated much better.
