Summary
NOW A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES

Like a car alarm, bagpipe music, or a doorbell ringing in the middle of the night, hearing this audio edition of The Bad Beginning will only upset you. This unique multi-voice recording brings the first book in Lemony Snicket's alarming A Series of Unfortunate Events to such terrible life that no one should really have to experience it. Unless you have an ear for such ghastly details as a tragic fire, a nefarious villain, itchy clothing, and cold porridge for breakfast, all narrated in chilly detail by the distinguished, and disturbed, Tim Curry with a team of talented readers, you would be better off listening to something else.

I was very delighted to get back into this book. I hadn't read it since 5th grade and I was happy the narration had brought the story to life just like I remembered it the first time.

I love the book! It's dark, fascinating, and my middle school students were eager to finish reading. We did NOT like the background noises for the audio. The narrator himself is fine, but there were many distracting sounds used throughout that were not only unnecessary but made listening to the audiobook less enjoyable. Even my students were annoyed by the sounds.

Entrancing, with a fun sense of intellectualism, delightful in every way. Tim Curry is exceptional as narrator and the voices really bring the story to life.

This is a classic, the whole series is fantastic, not the least because of Tim Rice's narration. We have listened to the whole series once, several years ago and are revisiting it with our younger children.

The different voices in this Audio book take this story to a whole nother level. It’s like watching a movie in your mind & exactly what I was looking for. The narrator sounds incredible & creepy which is perfect for this story. I absolutely love it.

I would have liked this book much better without all the sound effects which were very distracting to my students.
