Unabridged Audiobook
I thought this book was powerful! Made even better by expert narration. The narrator WAS Cora, capturing her mental status with the minutest change of pitch and tone. Dark and spellbinding as promised. While I agree that it is long and drawn out, I think it has to be! Cora's psyche is a dark and twisted labyrinth. Cora is constantly dropping little clues that you didn't realize were clues at the time - so I can absolutely see why some have backed up to re-listen. If fact, I may let some time pass and listen to the entire production again so I can catch what I missed the first time. Bizarre and engrossing - catastrophic religious fervor and a complicated (to say the least) relationship with her sister, helps set this apart from some standard psychological fare. Difficult to follow at times. Took a long time to get through the book because I had to keep going back a few chapters to catch what I didn’t understand. It really dragged.
This book was interesting from the start. A great listen!
Descent story line but way too long and dragged out.
