Unabridged Audiobook
Fascinating book! A quick read, and definitely one to make you think differently about death and how our society manages through it. Funny as well!
Thought provoking and absolutely amazing. Really real and refreshing. Humorous at times. Has definitely changed my life and accept the fact that one day I will die
Such a great book! Obviously, morbid but very informative.
I have been a fan of hers since 2014. I’ve seen her live twice and her books are some of my very favorite. Such a wonderful way to learn about attitudes towards death.
amazing book but screw you luke
Just a fantastic book.
Sooooo much better than the show. And the show was incredible!!!
Best Audiobooks I have ever heard. Narrator/Author is perfect.
Interesting. Educative. Funny.
lover her and her YouTube channel
This book talks about behind the scenes at crematoriums and what it’s like to work there. I highly recommend this book. Very well written and narrated!!
I was expecting such a funny book. Of course the theme is difficult but the author makes it interesting, thought he's provoking and you can tell it was well researched. And the performance made it even better! The only thing I would've liked, it's even more examples of ways death is experienced in other cultures.
Great book. Answered questions I didn’t even know I had.
loved this book! if you are interested in death in a nonmorbid, curious way, listen to Caitlyn! Learner a lot and developed my views on what I want to happen to my body after I die.
WOW! What an amazing book! I love the author, from her Humor, her writing style, and how blatantly honest she is. This book has really opened my eyes around the thought of death and the preparations that need to be made now, never to early. This book was so easy to listen to and really informative. I cant wait to get started on her next book!
Like Caitlin Doughty, I have been close to death for quite a while. I'm an Oncologist and deal with death on some level daily. I try to get my patients accept their mortality and their close end. At the same time, I am too fascinated by the topic death, because people treat it like something separate from life. Just like Caitlin, I am missing that people confront themselves - while they still are healthy - with the fact, that they gonna die at some point. Other reviewers described the book as refreshing, interesting, and humorous. I agree, but I also think it is more so for somebody who doesn't deal with death on a daily basis. I was probably missing the thought provoking part. I was also missing the closer look at grieving, since the book is more for the left behind family than for the dying. The aim of the book is to shake up the view of death among the readers. I am not sure, that Caitlin achieved it. I feel more wondrous about the American funeral practices.
This isn’t the type of book I typically listen to but I really enjoyed it. It’s factual without being boring. I found it genuinely really interesting
Excellent information introducing death and mortality to the American culture.
Thought provoking and engaging.
I love watching Caitlin's "Ask A Mortician" youtube channel which brought me here to purchase her audio books. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area and visiting So Cal many times the locational references are smile-inducing and of course her mix of wit, honesty and openess about a subject which freaks most people out and is an instant conversation shutter-downer is delightfully refreshing! ;)
I love listening to her experiences and I have learnt so much from Caitlin. I appreciate her sense of humour, and I feel she has an inept ability to describe her experiences and form vivid images of her work. Excellent!
this is a great book witty and insightful deserves 5 stars
An excellent mix of personal experience and history. I love how Caitlin talks as is (I watch her YouTube series) and she didn't disappoint while narrating. So proud of her!
