Summary
On the planet Tython, the ancient Je’daii order was founded. And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force—and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy.

Now, from her solitary life as a Ranger keeping order across the galaxy, Lanoree has been summoned by the Je’daii Council on a matter of utmost urgency. The leader of a fanatical cult, obsessed with traveling beyond the reaches of known space, is bent on opening a cosmic gateway using dreaded dark matter as the key—risking a cataclysmic reaction that will consume the entire star system. But more shocking to Lanoree than even the prospect of total galactic annihilation, is the decision of her Je’daii Masters to task her with the mission of preventing it. Until a staggering revelation makes clear why she was chosen: The brilliant, dangerous madman she must track down and stop at any cost is the brother whose death she has long grieved—and whose life she must now fear.

Good, not great. not bad. Just good. You won't regret having read it, but you won't feel fantastic about it either. A good, fun Star Wars adventure.

I'm such a Star Wars fan. Dawn of the Jedi is the first audiobook I've listened to in the series an it was pleasing to the ears. I've read about 15 of the books and though many are more thrilling, this was time well spent.

Great book! Very much worth the listen! It satisfies the curiosity of what the Jedi (Je'daii) were like in the pre-republic era, before lightsabers were created, and before much of the force was discovered and used. I loved it!

This was my first Star Wars book and I have to say, I'm hooked. The story is well written, though you can pretty much tell what is going to happen once you get about 1/4 of the way through. With a title of 'Dawn of the Jedi' I was assuming that it would be more informative on the actual beginning of the Jedi, not following a single Je'daii through a single story. The narrator was fantastic and really made the characters feel like their own person.

This was my first EU star wars novel and while it's interesting to learn about the pre-Old Republic Era through an original story and not just a novelization of a history lesson, this book lacks coherence. Ideas are unclear; character motivations are murky, at best; the action is childishly written. Frankly, the book is amateurish and the small peek at the history of the star wars universe does not make up for the amount of effort you have to put in to it to not throw the book across the room during the frustratingly stupid scenes where the main character just gets caught, trapped then caught and then trapped again even though she's an extremely powerful jedi. Not worth the time.

Starts out so slow. Gets a bit better towards the middle. The main character is a bit of a douche and hard to root for.
