Summary
An epic of awesome power from Terry Goodkind, the second installment of the bestselling series A Sword of Truth

Kahlan has at last gained the one goal she had always thought was beyond her grasp ... love. Against all odds, the ancient bonds of secret oaths, and the dark talents of men long dead, Richard has won her heart.

Amid sudden and disastrous events, Richard's life is called due to satisfy those treacherous oaths. To save his life, Kahlan must forsake Richard's love and cast him into the chains of slavery, knowing there could be no sin worse than such a betrayal.

Richard is determined to unlock the secrets bound in the magic of ancient oaths and to again be free. Kahlan, alone with the terrible truth of what she has done, must set about altering the course of a world thrown into war. But even that may be easier than ever winning back the heart of the only man she will ever love.

War, suffering, torture, and deceit lie in their paths, and nothing will save them from a destiny of violent death, unless their courage and faith are joined with luck and they find the elusive...Stone of Tears.

Very good story and full of suspense and great moments. A lot of hard time to the heroes also!

The narrator is ruining this book for me …. Why would you switch narrators? The first narrator was amazing this dude just doesn’t care. I’d rather just read the book than listen to his poor attempt to draw me into this story

I’m enjoying this series. The characters are well developed and the storyline is excellent.

The sword of truth story is a favourite. But the narrator was not good... Weird voices and intonation was a distraction; not a great performance.

Have read this book many times through the years and every time I read something new. Love that now I can just sit back and listen to it.

Love this book. But I suggest Jim Bond retire from narration. How someone could go from excellent narration of storyline and go to a monotonous horrible narration of the spoken lines is beyond me. When the characters speak, he makes them sound like an automated phone system.

I love the story and the characters. The narrator is awful

Good book, but challenging to get through as the narrator never let it flow, pity it wasn’t the same narrator as book one.

I see some people blaming the narrator giving his best work on a this book. This book is not without so many flaws. The plot does not really get started until Richard gets to the Palace. In so many ways, the story feels like it is treading water until we see that magic school life. For those that love magic schools but dislike Harry Potter, this can be a good alternative, but so would the Poppy Wars and without a doubt, The Name of the Wind. There's so many beat in here that are somewhat repetitive of the previous installment. As such, any fan should be warned about that. These are some of Goodkind's larger works, but by no means is it more dense. There is some wonderful setup for later installments that will be useful but for me, this is a fond memory, but a reread can be a little rough as there are parts that are definitely worth skipping.

The first books narrator was fantastic. This narrator sounds like a machine, changes pronunciation of names and gives a very dry story compared to what I expected after the first narrator

Read the entire Sword if Truth series a decade ago and the narrator did a good job of bringing the book alive for me. Great job

The book was great as stated by others this was the worst narrator I've ever heard. He got better later on and it seemed he did a few random parts fairly well but overall it significantly impacted my enjoyment of the book.

Not as good as book one, abit upsetting in places, author doesn't hold back on the worst side of human nature. Took a little while to get used to the narrator, who sounds like John Wayne. I kind of liked the John Wayne accent by the end of the book, it gave the book a different flavour. ☺

The story was a fun and creative romp with lots of action and good character development. I continued listening despite how terrible I felt the narrator was - the worst voices I’ve ever heard. He seemed to have 3 to choose from: whining, awestruck (but for whole pages of dialogue, not just a statement or two for emphasis) or droning on. I fell asleep listening so many times I had to relegate this audiobook to when I was walking outside only.

Why oh why isn't it the same narrator? I love these books, I love this book. It makes me bawl like a baby every time (SPOILERS) Richard leaves Kahlan behind and thinks that she sent him away. This book tugs at the heartstrings at every turn. The narrators dead, tone less, strangely inflected voice brought no emotions forth from me when I heard him read this book. It's like, maybe he's an alien who just learned how humans speak? It was weird and off and his voice is entirely unpleasant for narrating a near 40 hour book. The narrator for wizards first rule is far superior, I especially enjoyed his voice for Zedd.

The writers fetish for bdsm, collars, sadistic mistresses and dominated male slaves gets pretty old after hours of it in the first book, and he couldn't wait to get back into it in this one. The story line really doesn't need it but he persists regardless.

This book allowed me to escape to another world while at work. The narration was okay, but I didn't find him as awful as everyone else seems to have.

Love this series, but I have to agree with the other reviewers the narrator in the 'Stone of Tears' was a real yawn.

Narrator is bland. The first book was done beautifully. I have read this series so many times and I struggled to fet through it because of the narrator.

This Is a wonderful book ruined by terrible narration. I don't understand why they wouldn't use Sam Tsoutsouvas again when he did such a wonderful job on the Wizards first rule. I find myself falling asleep listening to Mr. Bonds voice even in some of the most gripping verses. PLEASE rehire Sam Tsoutsouvas for your future audiobooks Terry Goodkind!

These are some of my favorite books. I LOVE these stories and have been in love with them for many years and that is the only reason I could listen. Mr. Bond does not do them justice and it nearly broke my heart to listen to this story read with the narrator seeming so disengaged.

I have read this entire series already, but it's a whole new experience to listen to the story. Terry Goodkind is a genius and I think this story is meant to be in a audio format 10 out of 10 stars for me. My only problem is all the stories in this series are not read by the same person.

The author has a penchant for describing the bad things that happen in the book with a lot more detail and imagination than anything that is good. It leaves me feeling sad after listening for a while. The narrator was horrible.

The narrator sounds robotic. I enjoyed the first book and was hoping that the sequel would be as enjoyable. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the narrative.
