Summary
Fifteen-year-old Ellie Mack was the perfect daughter. She was beloved by her parents, friends, and teachers. She and her boyfriend made a teenaged golden couple. She was days away from an idyllic summer vacation with her whole life ahead of her. And then she was gone. Now, her mother Laurel Mack is trying to put her life back together. It's been ten years since her daughter disappeared, seven years since her marriage ended, and only months since the last clue in Ellie's case was unearthed. So when she meets an unexpectedly charming man in a cafe, she is surprised at how quickly their flirtation develops into something deeper. Before she knows it, she's meeting Floyd's daughters-and his youngest, Poppy, takes her breath away. Looking at her is like looking at Ellie. And now, the unanswered questions she has tried so hard to put to rest haunt her anew...as well as some new ones about Floyd and Poppy...

I enjoyed this book! I really was anticipating how it would all play out. I did get a little freaked out when my own daughter didn’t respond to my texts as quickly as she usually does. It had me thinking, always trust your gut! Even if you need to be impolite. I would recommend this one! Narrator was very good! Her American accent was well done!

I enjoyed the book. A little longer in the middle than it needed to be to get the point across but overall it was good. My only complaint is the amount of times the author used the word “yes.” Seriously, a gazillion times. Pick a different word every so often. You could play a drinking game by how many times it’s mentioned

I don't usually listen to this genre of storytelling but felt I needed a change, and I am glad I did. The story is definitely unsettling but the author can really write. She gives glimpses of scenes that took place in the past, along with the present narrative. This construction does not get confusing as it can in some stories. When the plot is finally played out, it all fits together perfectly. She creates characters with some depth to them and the whole story is written so that it is believable. I had read another of Lisa Jewell's novels (The Family Upstairs) which was not nearly as satisfying as this story - this felt much more maturely written. The narrator was very good and did a great job of one of the characters who was Irish (the rest were English).

This was a good book, kept me interested. The story is a little far fetched and kept me from really getting into it.

Started strong, but about halfway through the plot became almost absurd. Jewell's writing is taut enough, and the novel's pacing is good, but I just couldn't muster the suspension of disbelief required to really get into this story. It was just too big a leap of faith--too many unexplained processes and unbelievable situations for me to buy into the plot line. The narrator, Helen Duff, was excellent, though. Great job on the different characters accents, and good voice modulation.

Quite exciting and the narrator was wonderful with her Irish accent.

Good book but 1/2 way through the recordings would repeat themselves... made listening difficult and annoying - but the storyline was great - figures out the ending before finishing but it was a good read!!

I've seen this book a few times and the story seemed interesting. I'm not sure if it's the narrator or the book but I'm bored. I've tried for a month to listen.

A lot of the other reviews on this book talked about it being predictable, but I think it was only as predictable as the author wanted it to be the book is kind of slow, but I still liked it and really enjoyed the ending.

It was good! Predictable, yet sometimes, surprising. There is just one question I had at the end, that never really got answered..but other things tied up nicely.

Started off slow. The book is kind of predictable, but I was still guessing and thought the worst from each character. I loved the last few hours of the book. The reader did an amazing job.

This was a very interesting read. A bit predictable towards the middle but did not take away from the story. Very well written. Narrator was wonderful!

Extremely predictable. I figured the plot out near the beginning but so hoped there would be a twist.
