Summary
In this New York Times bestseller, follow the author of The Notebook as he travels the world with his brother learning about faith, loss, connection, and hope.

As moving as his bestselling works of fiction, Nicholas Sparks's unique memoir, written with his brother, chronicles the life-affirming journey of two brothers bound by memories, both humorous and tragic. In January 2003, Nicholas Sparks and his brother, Micah, set off on a three-week trip around the globe. It was to mark a milestone in their lives, for at thirty-seven and thirty-eight respectively, they were now the only surviving members of their family.

Against the backdrop of the wonders of the world and often overtaken by their feelings, daredevil Micah and the more serious, introspective Nicholas recalled their rambunctious childhood adventures and the tragedies that tested their faith. And in the process, they discovered startling truths about loss, love, and hope.

Narrated with irrepressible humor and rare candor, and including personal photos, Three Weeks with My Brother reminds us to embrace life with all its uncertainties . . . and most of all, to cherish the joyful times, both small and momentous, and the wonderful people who make them possible.

A friend of mine suggested this book since I recently went on a trip Around the World. Even though our trips were not identical, it was interesting to listen to him describe his travels and mix in his family life also. It is definitely a Trip of a LIfetime! And the trip does change your life.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The narration was excellent, which kept me interested, plus the book itself was very enjoyable, as it reflected Nicolas Sparks' childhood and growing up, and the closeness that he shared with his siblings, and continues to share with his brother, Micah. Loved it!

I loved this book! I am a Nicholas Sparks fan but NOT a fan of autobiographys so I was not so sure when I selected it. I was also not so sure about the narrator at first, I was proven wrong in both cases. The story kept my interest and and made me burst out laughing on some few occasions and I soon felt that the reader was perfect for this book. I would recommend this to my friends.

I really enjoyed this book. I am a big Nicholas Sparks fan and to actually get a true biography of his life from a very young child all the way up was most interesting to me. It was humbling to know how he was so poor as a child and how successful he has become. The only down side was his own voice in the readings. He is usually very monotone and often too soft spoken. A professional reader may have done a better job. Would recommend it though, especially if you are a Sparks fan.

I enjoyed this book very much. It is one that shows you don't have to come from a rich family to make your way in the world, but it also lets us know that no one is out of reach of death and sorrow.

Nicholas Sparks is my favorite writer, listening to this story of his life made me love his work even more. The love that Micah, Dana and him shared was amazing. The first part of the book seemed like so much information of his childhood, it seemed boring to me at times, but then about the 3rd disc, it all fit together about his mom and dad, the love of siblings, and how your family as an adult all fits together. Life has so many ups and downs and his life really shows this. Also I love how different he is from Micah and how their strengths helped the other. I loved this book and it confirms why he is my favorite. I highly recommend it!

I believe this book should become a classic love story that will be read and reread for future generations. I am 87 years old but am not ashamed to say that I am in love with Nicholas Sparks for his genuine kindness, value of life, and showing readers what life is all about and how to make it so. He is a beautiful man and we are blessed to have such an example of Christian love. Perhaps he will help others to achieve it. I have read most of this author's books and keep searching to be sure I don't miss any. Thank you Simply Audiobooks for making these novels available to readers.

By interweaving his childhood memories with his current trip, Sparks keeps the reader involved in both stories. The tales from the past are more captivating than the journey around the world.

I usually don't enjoy biographies since it's usually a self-aggrandizement of the author, but I was just mesmerized by this story. Nicholas Sparks tells a tale that comes alive with feeling and imagery that is so moving that it either brings tears to the readers eyes or makes them laugh out loud. Great story!

This was an excellant story of Nicolas and Micah's biography ---and it was done in a way that was very interesting. It shows that even though things are hard and sad at times, that good comes out of those things. Also I like the faith that Nick spoke about and how he tried to encourage his family.

One of my favorite books by Nicholas Sparks! Reading about his tumultuous life along with an amazing trip with Micah (his brother) was an "experience" I will never forget. My respect and admiration for his strength through so many struggles in his life goes beyond words. Bravo!

Nicholas Sparks always does a good job with his stories but this is a true story of his life and all the loses he has had. It explains a lot about his other books. I laughed out loud and cried in the car on the way to work listening to this he is great and this is the best yet...

Such a great story about N. Sparks and his family. It gives a fan such an insight on our favorite author's life and inspiration to write his books. A funny yet sad story all wrapped up in family blanket.

Wow. What a wonderful blend of present and past. I am truly a dedicated fan now. And, like Nick, I'm an optimist with an open mind about tragedy. Thanks for the inspiration to keep praying when I'm suffering and be thankful for the many blessings I receive every single day. And, I'm going to pray for Micah, too. Nice job in telling your story.

I really didn't know what to expect, but I must admit...this was better than some of Nicholas' own novels. His life story reads better than fiction. His love for his family, his brother, his sister, mother, father and wife and children leave me analyzing my own familial relationships and realizing they come up short. Nicholas Sparks isn't just an amazing writer, he is an amazing human being.

Did enjoy listening to much of this description of family relatiohsips, but found the book overadvertised for what it delivered. In a "disappointed" mood, I write this review. First, the trip the brothers went on was mostly boring--amounted to a series of museums and carefully guided tours with people much older than themselves--most of whom could not keep up with the demanding itinerary. Also, mostly "nothing happens" on the trip that would be of interest to the general reader. Second, I found it difficult to identify and emphathize with some of author's family and life experiences; for example, some downright mean tricks were unconvincingly portrayed as humorous. Finally, while the story of the author's family tragedies was often compeling, I found the spiritual exploration of his experiences often trite and lacking depth.

Nicholas Sparks tells his life story while on a trip around the world with his brother. He revisits memories of shared experiences with his brother in this book. Even though life was not easy for Nicholas, Micah, and Dana, they have many pleasant memories of their life together.

I enjoyed this book. I have read several of Nicholas Sparks books and next to The Notebook this was one of my favorites. It's not a love story as I have come to expect from him. But it is a true account of his family and how he was raised. I was really interested to learn that many of the characters in his books come from actual people from his life. It made me cry at the end. I highly recommend.

Loved the mingling of personal family history with details of the vacation. Sometimes a bit bored with the journal of their vacation experiences, but loved the stories about childhood, family life & relationships. A very well-written book, which I enjoyed a lot.

I was disappointed and did not finish the book. The author's introduction was very good and inviting. But I found the use of dialogue for much of the story line to be unengaging. When read aloud, the words seemed simplistic and somewhat artificial.

I absoultely loved this book. It was so raw and real. I loved hearing the story of these brothers and their journeys through life both separate and together. I would recommend this book to anyone to read, and in fact I would love to actually read the book, again. Three Weeks With My Brother is a must read!!

This was great. It was really an autobiography of Nick Sparks told in a unique way by interspersing his story into the "journal" or story of his trip around the world with his brother. It caused me to reflect on my own family story and remember our stories. I laughed, I cried, and I realized that life requires strength, courage, and faith from everyone.

This book was great. I truly did not want it to end. This book made me reflect on my own parents, siblings, and children with a new perspective. I think Nicholas and Micah's life is just as good (and sad) as any of his fictional stories. It gives you an idea of what has happened in his life while he was writing his novels and where alot of insiration for his stories came from. I think about this book quite often. Great read.

This book was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the memories of his childhood to adulthood, and, at times very sad. Easy to relate to. It's witty, poignant and meaningful with life's ups and downs. Helps you to reflect on your own life and how you've handled it.
