Unabridged Audiobook
My book club and I loved this book. It is complex and unsettling, as well as raucous and funny if read through an ironic lens. Someone said it should be a movie directed by Jordan Peel which seems just about perfect. It may trouble some people, and, like, it seems though that is what it’s supposed to do. I recommend this boom if you are ready for hidden humor mixed with racial reckoning.
I love the concept but I just couldn’t get into it much. The middle part was really good but then I lost interest in it. The narrator was excellent. It’s kind of gory in places and the language will make you shudder. It’s based on history. To think that the racism still exists to this day makes you think “how far have we really gone?”
