Unabridged Audiobook
Riordan is in top-notch form as he continues the hilarious and poignant adventures of the great god Apollo, currently thrust into the body of an awkward teen-aged mortal. The second triumvirate villain opposing Apollo and his motley assortment of hero-allies in this second book is truly scary in viciousness and personal hatred. He -- and the oracle Apollo must face --both make the emperor Nero of Book One look positively harmless. I love the weaving in of mythical and historical stories that is Riordan's signature style. Many riveting and dangerous twists! Young, troubled Meg is the most complex and satisfying female demi-god/warrior to be introduced in Riordan's graeco-roman-Percy-Jackson-verse; the perfect "exasperating little sister" to undercut Apollo's charming quirkiness. Their ongoing journey of self discovery and mutual humanizing of each other is a delight. This audio version was expertly performed!! Laugh out loud fun.
It was a great book. The narrator was absolutely amazing!
Yo man awesome book
So amazing!!! Even better than the first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Riordan will completely destroy the world he’s build for some pop culture reference jokes that fall flat. For example the former immortal god who’s been around for thousands of years and forgets that people aren’t alive anymore after a couple hundred years refers to e-mail as archaic. The story is interesting, but the world building constantly crumbles due to Rick’s need to push in jokes that add nothing to the plot, fall flat, and ruin the very unique and interesting world he built.
