Unabridged Audiobook
Having listened to nearly all of Clive Cusslers books most of which were narrated by Scott Brick, who has an excellent talent for Bringing you right into the action, was, this time, extremely disappointing. He read so fast it was mostly impossible to understand and distracted emensly the ability to follow the story. Most disappointed and should get a refund. Thanks
This work was very confusing and jumped all around, probably because it was an abridged version. It took a good while to figure out what it was all about. Would strongly recommend the unabridged version.
This was an abridged book so the action was none stop with out the in between build up to the events. The historical hypothesis was interesting. Enjoyed the fact that Dirk Pitt had grown children. The ending was a surprise with the new job offer for Dirk and Al. Cussler showed up at the end of the book.
I found that there was a bit of confusion transforming from the historical recount of the trojan war to the present day, however I did find that once the storys introduced the first bits of action it picked-up quick and was surprising unpredictable. I felt that the story line was kept fairly realistic and the several surprises in the summation were worth the read
very good read but i hate to see dirk changing jobs really liked his character
Clive Cussler is usually hit and miss. This one seemed to be somewhere in-between. I always find it interesting how he ties in historical "facts" and then fast forwards to present day. Perhaps abridged versions of his work are just no good but this book seemed to rush too quickly and never quit tied up all the loose ends for explanation.
I am a big Clive Cussler fan but this one left me with the feeling that he is past his Dirk Pitt character. The historical perspective that is his hallmark lost me. I can see the references to Homer's work but he went off on a tangent that I found almost humorous. I recommend you read all his other works before you attempt this one.
I enjoyed this book. It moved very well and easy to follow. The way the arthor intertwined the story of the Trojan HOrse and other bits of info from that period really added to the overall story. Good listen
This book was fun to listen to, and I particularly enjoyed the references to the Odyssey. I liked the reader's voice, and although it was abridged, I could follow it easily. I highly recommend this book.
