Unabridged Audiobook
A fascinating aspect of American identity and history. I really enjoy this style of deep dive book where a single specific topic becomes a way to connect disparate events over time and people. In this case the topic is secession and I learned about some pretty dramatic moments in American history that don't normally make the cut in textbooks. (The chapter on Mormon separatism blew my mind.) The authors do a good job of tying this history to current debates, while also offering some hope for a constructive path forward.
Great book about American history that also explains current political battles
