Summary
Some people stay all summer long on the idyllic island of Belle Isle, North Carolina. Others come only for the weekends-and the mix between the regulars and “the weekenders” can sometimes make the sparks fly. Riley Griggs has a season of good times with friends and family ahead of her on Belle Isle when things take an unexpected turn. While waiting for her husband to arrive on the ferry one Friday afternoon, Riley is confronted by a process server who thrusts papers into her hand. And her husband is nowhere to be found.

So she turns to her island friends for help and support, but it turns out that each of them has their own secrets, and the clock is ticking as the mystery deepens...in a murderous way. Cocktail parties aside, Riley must find a way to investigate the secrets of Belle Island, the husband she might not really know, and the summer that could change everything.

Told with Mary Kay Andrews’ trademark blend of humor and warmth, and with characters and a setting that you can’t help but fall for, The Weekenders is the perfect summer escape.

GREAT BOOK

One of the worst and longest books ever. I thought it would be more suspenseful. The mystery was wrapped up very quickly at the end after a lot of "filler". I did not like the characters. Maggie the daughter was horrible.

I loved this book overall. It's a little bit of mystery with romantic in it; easy to listen too. It's great for a beach read. I've listen to this 3 times and enjoyed it each time.

Really enjoyed book. Good listening while not bogging you down with names and places you can't remember from chapter to chapter. Keeps you entertained from beginning to end

Entertaining. While it's not great literature, it's better than most beach books. I could relate to Riley because I have a friend whose husband turned out to be a swindler. It's hard to deal with your anger, the daughter's grief, and the town's pity. But I think a good lawyer could have kept her home off the auction block. Excellent narration.

Fun, easy listening. Great for a solo road trip. The characters are vivid due to the different voices of the narrator.

Though a predictable story line I found the book extremely funny.

Great book to listen to if you are looking for a "light" read. I listened to it while walking, which actually made me walk longer because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. If you're from the south, you can relate and if you aren't Bren it's a great insight into southern families.

My second listen on audio books, I enjoyed it, but would not recommend it. It seemed a bit far fetched for me. Plus it may have been s book more suited to a lady.

This was my first book on audio and I enjoyed it thoroughly driving a very long distance. Nice not to have to change discs every few hours. Mary Kay Andrews books are very entertaining.
