Unabridged Audiobook
Nearly the entire story was told in flashback, nothing in flashback mode ever matters. (Same with stories set in make-believe land, digital worlds, dreamscapes etc.) so nearly the entire story doesn’t matter. Kaladin is now a pussy, all the gods (with 4 names each) are crybabies, and this book is about 13 hours too long. Are there really going to be 5 more books in this series? Someone better be honest with Sanderson and tell him how bad this book was so he’ll reconsider wasting his time on 5 more.
Keeping it SPOILER FREE. It kills me to give a Brandon Sanderson Novel less then 5* or the occasional 4* but im sorry this just calls for it. The only thing i can think of is that Sanderson is using the finale book #5 as the jumping off point to completely link all the worlds in the cosmere.. If its anything other then that then my 3* stands...... i was really bummed. The only character Arc that i really enjoyed was Adolin, it was almost like he got all of Kaladins page time, while Kal was playing Dr. Phil to the Upper crust of Roshar. Additionally, i feel with the length of this book, more should of happened, he could of probably shaved at least 400 pages and the book would of lost nothing, aside from a ton of minutia and most characters going nowhere for the 1st 500 pages of the book. These are characters that we followed for over a decade and loved!!!!! they all deserved a better finale. All that being said, These characters are Brandons babies to do with what he wants, its his story and world. While this is probably the 1st disapoitment for me reading sanderson, id say hes like pizza, even sub par pizza is still pizza at the end of the day and its awesome!!!!! ill read whatever he puts out, lol.
Came to the conclusion that I don’t like BS straight forward prose, it hardly has an immersive quality. This one was bloated and could have have bren edited down 500 pages. The comedy relief is as bad as the MCU, it just doesn’t hit and often even makes fun of its own jokes as being bad. I expected a lot more from this first arc and it just simply did not deliver. It was anti climactic in every conceivable way and found myself constantly bored and struggling to complete it. I think I’m done with BS.
I liked it
Amazing finish to an amazing series. Can't wait for the the next books!
Half the book is talking about mental issues. The book didn’t need to be nearly this long
Amazing. Sometimes hard to follow. But, I enjoyed the book. All the characters were there from previous books and all seemed to have an ending of sorts. I did get confused during the visions or stepping into an alternate universe. The interludes well just what they were. Not sure if there is anything left for another book or not. I guess wait and see. Long 59 hours but worth it. To me anyway. Both narrators were on target. They are my favorite.
Rough and filled with eye rolls. But long and entertaining
Never has there been a book that has been more disappointing. DNF
The best one yet.
