Unabridged Audiobook
Each story was entertaining but the final novella by McKelvey won my heart. So much depth. It echoed the emotion and meaning of the Wingfeather Saga but packed in a smaller story. The Wooing of Sophelia Stupe slowed me down but I'm glad I powered through and finished the book.
My family and I have read and listened to this book multiple times. It is a collection of stories set in the world of the Wingfeather Saga (although nothing about what happens after the end of book 4.) Each of the tales in this book could stand alone. In fact, after the first read-through, my boys frequently request a specific story rather than listen to this book in order. Some of these stories are short and funny--like the song about the two cousins who were best friends and also fought a lot over a girl. And some are full of adventure--like the Prince of Yorsha Doon and the one about Podo the dragoneer. And the last story is an adventure and also a rip-your-heart-out-and-make-you-sob beautiful story about loss, grief, and redemption. Ok, so I cry every time on the last story, my kids don't. As always, Andrew Peterson does a fantastic job narrating these stories. We will listen over and over.
