Unabridged Audiobook
Like many people, I loved reading as a kid and, after failing to make time for it for years, have a hard time getting myself to read (or even listen to audiobooks) as an adult. I bought this audiobook after listening to Adam’s appearance on the My Bloody Judy podcast, and I hit play at the start of a deep cleaning session while preparing for guests. Eight-ish hours later, my heart was warmed and my house was pretty damn clean. It’s been four weeks since then, and I am about to finish my 5th listen. I haven’t been able to finish a book or audiobook in years, but there is something so visceral and authentic about Adam’s writing. I genuinely don’t know if I’ve ever read (heard) characters as well-written as Cole and Dearie—the same goes for all of the characters, really. I imagine that most (if not all) readers will quickly find themselves identifying with one of the main protagonists and looking out for the other (self-proclaimed Dearie checking in!) Your Lonely Nights Are Over is such an honest and beautiful portrayal of queer friendship and coming of age, and you’ll be pleased to find it absent all the worst clichés that can come with those stories. And don’t be mistaken—it’s a damn good time.
