My thanks to the cast and crew who put this production together - I loved every minute of it. The acting is engaging, with the the jazz music adding to the tense, moody and unsettling atmosphere. The story is one of Ross MacDonald's best, full of damaged characters and surprising twists in the plot. Nothing of the novel's depth and impact are lost in this dramatized, full-cast reading, but so much is gained. I expect I will list to this a few more times over the coming years, making it one of my most treasured audiobooks.
