Ben Smith is the former media columnist for the New York Times and founding editor-in-chief of BuzzFeed News. Before that, he was among the first reporters to adapt the tools of the internet to political journalism for the New York Observer, the New York Daily News, and Politico. He left the Times in 2022 to build a new news organization for the post-social media age of news. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and three children.
